WTA Roland Garros 2026
Tournament Information
The women's singles draw at Roland Garros is one of four Grand Slam events on the WTA calendar and the only one played on clay. Held at the Stade Roland-Garros in Paris over the same two weeks as the men's tournament, the women's draw runs best-of-three sets across seven rounds, with 128 players competing for the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup and 2,000 ranking points.
Clay-court tennis places a strong emphasis on movement, consistency, tactical variety and physical endurance. The slower surface often produces longer rallies and gives the tournament a different competitive profile from the faster Grand Slam events played on grass or hard courts. Iga Świątek's four titles in the early 2020s set the recent benchmark, but champions across the modern era have come from a wide range of styles — from Justine Henin's single-handed-backhand variety to Serena Williams' power baseline game and Simona Halep's defensive precision.
The women's singles tournament runs alongside the men's singles, doubles and mixed doubles events. Early-round matches are spread across multiple courts, while later stages are concentrated on the main show courts, with the semi-finals scheduled on the Thursday of the second week and the women's singles final on the Saturday.
